South Coast Repertory Theatre has announced its full calendar, September through December 2012. See details below!
SEPTEMBER 2012
Sept. 7 – Oct. 7 (First preview Sept. 7; Opens Sept. 14) ? Segerstrom Stage
ABSURD PERSON SINGULAR
By Alan Ayckbourn
Directed by David Emmes
He’s back! England’s most prolific and most ingenious playwright—and one of SCR’s most popular—outdoes himself by setting a party in the living room, but keeping the drama in the kitchen. In tree kitchens, on three successive Christmas Eves, relationships change, fortunes soar and then dive, and the social kaleidoscope gets all shaken up. Add an off-stage couple whose jokes are really bad, some of the most ingenious failed suicide attempts ever devised and lots of gin, and you’ve got a ferociously funny farce with very sharp teeth.
Tickets: $20-$70. See last page for performance times.
Sept. 8 - Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa
“SETTING THE STAGE” GALA BALL
South Coast Repertory’s annual fundraiser traditionally launches the theatrical and social seasons in Orange County and benefits SCR’s annual fund, in support of education programs. The 34th annual event will celebrate artists and artistry with all things theatrical—props, costumes, sets, lights and sound. It starts behind the scenes and leads guests to the moment the curtain rises, when the actors take the stage. Chaired by Beth Phelps.
Time: 6 p.m. until midnight
Call: (714) 708-5504
Sept. 13 - Julianne Argyros Stage

EURYDICE
By Sarah Ruhl
Directed by Marc Masterson
In this lushly inventive reimagining of one of the greatest love stories, Eurydice and her musician-lover, Orpheus, are a modern couple—playful, charming and rapturously happy. On their wedding day, Eurydice wanders off, enticed by a letter from her deceased father, only to find herself reunited with him in the underworld. But she finds that she must re-learn human language in order to remember all she left behind and, ultimately, must choose between two worlds in this whimsical and breathtaking story of the power and fragility of love.
