Garba With Attitude 2013 in Broadway GARBA WITH ATTITUDE 2013
Segerstrom Hall
2/26-2/26/2013
For the past ten years, the Indian Sub-Continental Club (ISC) at the University of California, Irvine has hosted Garba With Attitude (GWA), a national Garba/Raas (Indian folk dance) competition, attracting student formed teams, audience members of various ages, and organizations from across the nation. GWA has grown to become America's premier Garba/Raas competition and is the only competition of its kind on the West Coast. In its 11th year, its focus not only lies in exhibiting the values and expressions of this form of dance, but also in promoting cultural awareness. In the past ten years, Garba With Attitude has grown from five California Universities to over 200 participants from 10 Universities from across the United States. The show has had a record five year sell out point with over 1,000 audience members which include students, representatives from various organizations, family members of participants, show organizers, and garba enthusiasts.

Lucky Stiff in Broadway LUCKY STIFF
Costa Mesa Playhouse
2/8-3/10/2013
Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who would write the scores for Ragtime and Seussical, exploded on the musical theatre scene in 1988 with their first off-Broadway show, Lucky Stiff, a zany, offbeat, very funny murder mystery farce complete with slamming doors, mistaken identities, six million dollars in diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair. It won the prestigious Richard Rodgers Production Award for new musicals. Mild-mannered shoe clerk Harry Witherspoon stands to inherit six million dollars if he can successfully take the corpse of his late uncle on vacation to Monte Carlo for a week, but he isn't the only one who wants the money.

Wicked in Broadway WICKED
Segerstrom Hall
2/20-3/17/2013
Back by "Popular" demand! Variety calls WICKED "a cultural phenomenon," and when it last played Costa Mesa, it broke box office records and sold out in record time. Winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy® and three Tony Awards®, WICKED is "Broadway's biggest blockbuster" (The New York Times). Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One-born with emerald green skin-is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for "the most complete- and completely satisfying-new musical in a long time" (USA Today).

Life X 3 in Broadway LIFE X 3
STAGEStheatre
3/1-4/7/2013
Fullerton CA-STAGEStheatre is proud to present the Orange County Premiere of Yasmina Reza's Life X 3(Trois Versions de la Vie), directed by Gary Krinke opening March 1, 2013. Henry and Sonia are having a difficult time with their wakeful six year old son; but Henry has other worries. About to publish two years' worth of research on the flatness of galaxy halos, he's desperate to make a good impression on the distinguished astrophysicist, Hubert Finidori. When Hubert arrives for dinner with his rebellious wife in tow on the wrong night, the fact that there is no food in the house (merely an ample amount of Sancerre) is only one of the evening's potentially disastrous elements of the play. Under a veneer of decorum, the acid words, tensions and power games expose broken dreams and failure. Cracks in certainty, the shifting dynamics of married life and the elusive nature of power are the main ingredients of this doomed evening. Life X 3 fluctuates between melancholy, hilarity, cruelty, and metaphysical musings as the evening degenerates into three possible scenarios. Yasmina Reza is a French playwright, novelist and actress. From Conversation after a Burial (1987) and The Unexpected Man (2000) to the recent God of Carnage (2006), her plays have been performed worldwide and translated into 35 languages. Art (1994), which became an international phenomenon, won the French Moliere Award for best author, best play, and best production, before winning the prestigious Tony Award in New York in 1998. Starring in Life X 3 are: Mo Arii, Frank Tryon, Cynthia Ryanen, and Karl Schott. Traci Mills Courtney, Vincent Aniceto, Danielle Keaton, and Mark Coyan. **There are two casts and they will be performing on alternating evenings. Tickets for Life X 3 are $20.00, $18.00 for students and seniors. Performances are March 1- April 7 Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. For reservations please visit our website at www.stagesoc.org. About STAGEStheatre: Celebrating its 21th year in business, STAGEStheatre is one of Orange County's most innovative community theaters. It produces nearly 15 productions annually, showcasing local playwriting, acting and directing talent. STAGEStheatre is, and will continue to be, dedicated to the development of the artist. It is located at 400 E. Commonwealth in Downtown Fullerton (between Lemon and Balcom).
