So there was a noir/gangster-themed paintball tournament that did not get its own episode? LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
I do hope we see Dean in a Patty Hearst, Stockholm Syndrome-realness costume.
The bait and switch mental ward theory was amazing and I wouldn't be surprised if that was responding to fan theories on the internet. Garrett as a psychiatrist there, specifically his voice, was genius.
I forgot to include my favorite exchange in the episode:
"Fries!"
"GET OUT!!!!!"
I feel like this season it is more unabashedly crazy and its true self this season. Last year you still had some attempts to make it more TV sitcom trope-y and a feel of restraint even in the homage episodes. Plus I feel characters, specifically Chang, Britta, and Dean, have never been used better than this season.
Well, last year they were more focused on film genere parodies and this entire season (especially if you rewatch and put them in the order they were originally supposed to air) is all about sending up tv tropes.

I would say those have been the top episodes of this season.
Remedial Chaos Theory, Curriculum Unavailable, Documentary Filmmaking: Redux, and Regional Holiday Music are definitely in the top 5. Cannot wait for the finale. Sounds like gangbusters.
If Harmon steps down, nobody except Megan Ganz should replace him. She has written some of the best episodes in the show's history and she seems to be waiting in the wings that I'll be shocked if she didn't replace him. I do hope he does stay unless he has another show on the horizon that has pulled him away from this show, not unlike a lot of TV show-runners.
I can see the decision and over-lap with the Grimm fan base but not Whitney who doesn't really fit any of the established shows. My mother contends that the show got better but then I read about the show having a coming-out episode with guy who played Jonathan from 30 Rock and my eyes rolled out of my head.
First of all, no one said Harmon is stepping down; he just hasn't signed a new contract yet. Second, there's no way Megan Ganz is going to run a show at this stage in her career - she's only been a staff writer for a few years.
Third...Community can do worse than Fridays, IMO. Sure, Whitney is an abomination, but won't it be nice not to compete against Big Bang Theory and Idol for once? Anyway, if this turns out to be the last season and Harmon (because I do think he'll be running the show) has sufficient advance notice, he can end it with graduation and everything coming full circle, and I think I'd be pretty satisfied with that.
