The journey from the 21st Century back to Hollywood's glamourous golden age is an inspiring one when your "tour guides" are the legendary Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire - portrayed by Darien Crago and Jeremy Benton in Westchester Broadway Theatre's production of Lynnette Barkley and Christopher McGovern's Backwards in High Heels: The Ginger Musical, running August 13-September 20.

Just last week, Des Moines Performing Arts, in partnership with the Des Moines Symphony, hosted a special guest with Iowa ties at the state's largest single-day concert event. The Yankee Doodle Pops concert on the Iowa State Capitol's West Terrace, welcomed three-time Tony Award®-winning composer Jason Robert Brown to conduct the orchestra in selections from Broadway's THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, featuring soloists Christiane Noll and Hugh Panaro. The musical, winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations, is famously set in Iowa and will launch its national tour at the Des Moines Civic Center November 28 - December 5. After seeing Well-Strung's debut music video, Kristin Chenoweth, Tony & Emmy winning star of Wicked and Glee, invited the group to appear in her two sold-out Provincetown concerts this past August at Town Hall. HBO has confirmed the debut date for BILLY CRYSTAL 700 SUNDAYS, with the special slated to premiere on Saturday, April 19 (9:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT). 700 SUNDAYS is an original two-act play in which Billy plays numerous characters that have influenced who he is today. It deals with his youth, growing up in the jazz world of Manhattan, his teenage years, and finally adulthood. It is about family and fate, loving and loss. Academy Award, Tony Award and Emmy Award winner Christopher Plummer takes the stage for 16 performances only in a Center Theatre Group special event, "A Word or Two," which opened at the CTG/Ahmanson Theatre on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Written and arranged by Plummer and directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, "A Word or Two" is presented in association with the Stratford Festival of Canada and continues through February 9, 2014.
